Brennan rested her head on her desk, promising herself it was only for a brief moment. She was reluctant to check the time, as she knew it would be past twelve already. Most had gone home already, except for the ones who were just as busy as she was. The anthropologist yawned widely, keeping herself from crawling onto the sofa across the room and falling asleep. Working nights were just lovely.

Booth hummed as he walked through the Jeffersonian, his eyes looking around for any sign of Bones or one of the squints. It was way past twelve and on each of his hands there was a Starbuck's cup filled with hot coffee, one plain with no sugar and the other decaf. Booth took a sip out of the plain one, flinching slightly for a sec when the boiling coffee hit his tongue and said in a very low tone, "That's really hot!...", he then carried on, waiting for it to cool down, which probably would given that Bones' office was still a bit far away from where he was. Parker was with his mother, it wasn't football night and the guys back at the Bureau were still with their hands pretty full with their cases so there was nothing to do and Booth wasn't in the mood to go home and sleep so he figured he'd payed Bones a visit. How did he know she was there so late at night? Easy... She was always like that, always working late, whether they had a case or not. Their most recent case was solved, as usual, about a week ago and he'd only seen Bones like once or twice and it might sounded strange, but he actually missed working with her, even it had been just a week. It was probably because the cases in which he worked with Bones were a lot more interesting then some fraud case or something of the like.
Before Booth knew, he was already going up the stairs, Bones' office just a few feet away. The squints were no where to be found and he wondered if Bones was really there, but the minute he peeked inside and then he saw her there, sitting in her chair and working as usual. Booth opened the door and said as he walked inside, "Do you ever get tired Bones?", He said with a smile as he handed her the cup and continued, "Decaf with sugar, just how you like it. So what're you up to?".

"Paperwork from the last case," she replied, setting everything down to take the coffee. "Thanks. You haven't gone home yet?" Everyone else sure had. The halls were nearly dead, as well as the parking lot. Brennan sipped a small bit of her coffee, wishing it would cool down faster. She hadn't eaten much since lunch, and she'd ignored her stomach when it sounded for food. She admired the fact that instead of home resting in bed, Booth continued to stay at the Jeffersonian though there was no real reason to. She wished she could say the same for herself, but she couldn't help the desire to hop in her car and drive home to a nice warm bed. Paperwork had to get done, though, no matter how unpleasant it was.

Booth made a slight face at the mentioning of the word, "Paperwork", but hid it behind the cup as he took a sip, the still hot, but now less boiling, coffee making his way down his throat, warming him up and providing him with a dose of caffeine that would be enough for him to stay awake for a few more hours. "Don't mention it Bones.", Booth said with a smile as he looked at her beautiful light blue eyes that seemed to draw his attention towards them. He then snapped back to reality and replied to her question, "Meh, I don't feel like going home for some reason. And call me a kid if you want but I'm not 'sleepy' so I wouldn't do much at home.", he chuckled slightly and took another sip out of the cup. He then noticed how tired she was and said with a slight worried tone, "You look tired Bones, why don't you let the paperwork for tomorrow?", he looked at the papers, unable to understand a single word on them. He was glad she was the brain and he was the brawn, otherwise he would have to fill that paperwork and he loathed paperwork.

Brennan suppressed a smirk at the face Booth made when she mentioned paperwork. It was hard to imagine him doing any type of paperwork, or even sitting at a desk. "Maybe if you're not 'sleepy', you should stop drinking all that caffeine. It'll only make it worse," she replied, taking another gulp of the coffee that had begun to cool. She shrugged slightly at his last question. "If I leave it, it'll only pile up." She hated the thought of having to do double the work she was doing now. She'd be here all year.

Booth shrugged when she mentioned the coffee in her own way, only then to reply, "Meh... I felt like having a warm cup o' joe and I wasn't gonna sleep anyways so...", he smilled as he took another sip of his coffee, savoring the strong taste for he did not put any sugar in there. As he looked at the large amount of Paperwork to be filled, he blinked slightly and was glad he wasn't in her shoes, because he really, really, REALLY hated to fill paperwork, thus he wasn't too trigger happy with his gun given that with each bullet fired from it, there was a report to be filled regarding the reason why he had fired. Well... There was that accident with the clown but that was another case... "You think it'll pile up like that? C'mon Bones, you sure look like you need to rest.", Booth said as he sat with one leg on the paper free corner of her desk, carefully so as not to make the pile of papers come tumbling down. He took a sip and then grabbed the skull that was usually on top of the table and while moving it's jaw he spoke as if the skull was talking, "Listen to Booth, you should get some sleep. Paperwork can be done tomorrow. You know what they say 'Why do it today when you can do it tomorrow'", he then chuckled slightly as he flapped the jaw carefully so as not to break it.

"Well, 'they' were probably procrastinators." Brennan couldn't help but grin in amusement at the talking skull. Stubborn as she was, she attempted to make herself look as awake as Booth was as she slipped her lab coat off and draped it over the back of her seat. "And talking skulls aren't enough proof that you shouldn't be awake right now?" She chuckled and glanced at the pile of work. Each minute was getting harder and harder to convince herself to do it.

Booth blinked slightly at the word she chose, "What? Procastintors?", he tilted his head slightly, confused by the "big word" as he once entitled each of the words that Bones said that made no sense at all. He wasn't the kind of guy to keep a vocabulary so some of the words she said would put that "What the?" expression on his face, but he was somewhat used to it given that he spent so much time with her. He smirked and continued the little act, "Yeah well you are the one that shouldn't be awake at this time of night. Drop the boring papers and go to sleep!", he chuckled as he flapped the jaw, again, carefully not to break it off because last time he broke one of her skulls, she became so mad at him, Booth feared she would ask the board to replace him or something among those lines.

Brennan held down a bubble of laughter at the face he made after she mentioned procrastinating. No way he didn't understand what that meant. "You should really get a dictionary, Booth," Brennan advised, a half-smile planted on her face. Half the time, Brennan didn't even realize the words she was using were long or complicated. The laughter she'd been holding back finally escaped her lips as Booth continued with the skull. "How about a compromise? I'll go to sleep if you do." Brennan offered, taking another few sips of her coffee.

Booth grumbled playfully when she mentioned a dictionary and said, "And you should speak good ol' fashion and 100% american english and stop using such big words no one uses.", he then chuckled a bit as he took a sip of his coffee, though only after placing the skull back to it's rightfull place. God her laugh, her soft yet refined laugh. It made Booth smile whenever she laughed. Why? Because she was so damn serious all the time and it was like a blessing or shear luck to hear her laugh. Though now she knew how to laugh, because the first time she laughed with Booth... It was so awkward and strange, like she had never laughed before. When she talked to him, he snapped from his thoughts and smiled as he said, "Well, call me a kid, but I ain't sleepy so no bed time for me.", he let out a brief and soft laugh before continuing, "You on the other hand missy, should really get some sleep.", he then once again took another sip.

"I sleep when you sleep." Brennan shrugged her shoulders stubbornly before picking up her pen and scrawling a few more words across the paper, determined to get Booth to sleep, even if it meant she stay awake all night. As Brennan took another gulp of coffee, she found she was running out. Uh oh. That would make staying up much more difficult.

When she said she would only sleep when he would sleep, Booth looked into the empty coffee cup and said to himself, "... Darn...", he then sighed and stood up from the table, only then to walk to the coach, though previously tossing the cofee cup into the trash, and take a seat, leaning backwards on it and saying to Bones, "Well I just had a cup of coffee so I guess we'll be up all night. Unless you go to sleep... So how about it? At least then one of us gets some sleep.", he shrugged and smiled at her. She really needed to get some sleep, because despite having that angelic "working" face on, Booth could notice that she was really tired, after all, it was probably the third night in the row or so she stayed up and didn't grab sme shut eye. Atleast that was what he thought and he knew Bones pretty well, so it was probably true.

"Not a chance, Booth." She smirked, obviously up for the challenge. She had to admit that she admired the way he tried to talk her into sleeping, but for her, the only two options were that both of them slept or neither of them did. The fact that Booth had just drank a cup of caffeine was no excuse for not at least attempting to sleep. She probably could have had a good chunk of the work done by now if Booth hadn't walked in, but she silently admitted liking the distraction.

Booth sighedand rubbed his forehead, though not aggravated, rather amused by her. "Alright, alright... Ish you are really stubborn Bones. Ok, so how do we do this then? We obviously can't promise we will go home and sleep, at least I can't because I know I won't. So how do we do this?...", he said as he leaned backwards on the couch, rubbing his chin as though he was attempting to come up with an answer to the dilema. He wasn't going to lie to her, he would never do that, but he was determined to get her to sleep.

Bones grinned in triumph and sat back in her seat, but the grin soon faded as she realized that what Booth said was true. She couldn't promise that she'd go right home and crawl into bed either, even though she was exhausted. She had a lot to do. "Good question," she replied, twisting a piece of her hair in thought.
