What was this place? Where were you? Looking all around you, you struggle to pull yourself from the crashing ocean waves, dragging yourself up to the sandy beaches. What had just happened? Where was home…were you alone here? Eyes widening in panic, you whip around, crashing in some random direction, desperate to find something, someone, to ease the fear of being so alone. To ease the stark terror that is flooding through your paws, threatening to overwhelm you, threatening to break you down, and leave you a sobbing mess under a tree. As you desperately search the beach and later the forest, it seems as though your worst fears…they are actually happening. You are completely alone in this strange world. Throwing yourself into a large clearing, you collapse onto the ground, the need to breath overwhelming the need to find someone for the moment.
And it is about that time, that a smell much like the cinnamon of your two leg’s garden fills your nostrils. In your ear, a voice much like the soft, warm bed you had once napped the day away purrs, intoxicating you, as you breathed in the presence of the tom that had come out of nowhere. You were not alone!
”Why, what in the world do we have here? A party crasher?” The voice was teasing, and cracking your eyes open, you looked up at a gorgeous ginger and white tom, his green eyes looking down at you playfully.
”Nah, you’re too stunning to be a party crasher. You must have come to join me!” The strange tom declared, a grin flashing on his features.
Okay, well, not at all liking where this one sided conversation was going, you bound to your feet, flanks heaving, claws unsheathed, daring the tom cat to try anything with you. You would show him exactly what your claws could do if the opportunity called for it! Training or no training, you weren’t going to let him do anything to you! Glaring into those breathtaking eyes, much to your disgruntlement, you saw nothing but amusement. How dare he not take you seriously!
”Ahah, I must say, you’re the fiercest cat I’ve had wash up here! Looking like you’re going to stick me with those claws, ahah, hey, you’re going to fit in just fine here! But please, put your claws away, you wouldn’t hurt me, would you?” The odd tom said, grinning at you, as if you were his long lost best friend.
Wait…what was he talking about? Why was he making it out as though you were going to stay in this place? That is the last thing you want right now; in fact, what you really want, is to just get away from here! Go back to your actual home, instead of this loud, scary place in the middle of nowhere! Clearing your throat, slowly backing out of the aggressive pose, you politely ask for the fastest and easiest way off of the island; mentally wondering how much longer you’ll have to stay around the oddly charming, yet oddly creepy as well, tom.
As soon as the words leave your maw, a look of pain flashes across the other cat’s face, and he slowly gets up, spiced scent filling your nostrils, sending a painful reminder of home. You can’t even bristle as he gently trails his tail across your collarbone and shoulders as he circles around you. Memories have engulfed you now, of a time when you didn’t have to deal with such breathtaking and amazing strangers. Looking you in the eyes, his own green gaze filled with such longing, such sadness, you feel your breath catch as he speaks, forcing yourself to look away before he can convince you to sell your soul to him.
”But if you leave me, who will be my friend, who will keep me company long into the night? Who will soothe me when I’m frightened? Who will I have fun with, and share my thoughts with?”
Blinking rapidly at the tom, reminded once again how much of a creeper he seems to be, you firmly reassure him that he will be just fine without you, and ask how to leave again…only to get cut off before you can actually finish the question. Oh no, he was back to looking at you with those eyes again.
”I bore you, don’t I?” Somehow, he had managed to convey even more sadness into his tone, making you want to crawl deep into a hole, and plug your ears before you started tearing up.
”I am dreadfully sorry if that is the case! But you see, the party is just getting started! I mean, with RimeClan being brought back, thanks to StarClan, and all the other clans running around as though their tails have been caught on fire!” Tone hopefully, he looks at you, eyes bright, a grin flashing across his maw.
Unable to bear that depressed tone he had been using before, you sigh, and wearily ask about the Clans.
Launching into his story, just about bounding around with excitement, the ginger tom spun on his haunches, claws sliding in and out in his frenzy.
”Well, you’ve come at the best time! Nobody is sure what is going to happen, and I have prey bet on everyone! You see, when RimeClan was brought back here, they brought back a whole new religion! But, being the stuck ups they are, well, AlpineClan and FrothClan don’t approve of their religion.” Making a face, the tom confided that they had never liked his parties, before returning back to the story. ”If RimeClan had been fighting alone, without a doubt those stuck ups would have obliterated the ‘cult,’ as they call it. But for some reason, CocoaClan has decided to help RimeClan. Such good cats they are, always fun to hang out with. So now, cats are being killed, held hostage, getting lost…and even worse.” The moment is serious for a few heartbeats, before the tom winks.
”Of course, you can always come stay with me. I’ll protect you from those big bad Clan cats.”
Sighing, you shake your head at the tom, getting to your feet, about to walk off, when suddenly; a very dark expression crosses his handsome features, making you stop moving.
”You know how everyone says after life there is always a party in death? Well, for these poor souls, not even death can aid their suffering. Their ancestors are at war, staining the sky with red, as those who were against the return of RimeClan are angry about the fighting within the clans. Those who were for the return, well, they refuse to take the blame. It’s like a mix up of mates one night, nobody wants to own up for anything.” Some part of you can’t help but wonder if he speaks from experience with the last part.
Looking thoughtfully at you, the tom suddenly winked, getting to his feet.
”Oh, I must be boring you again! I am such a bad host today, you have my immense apologies! You wanted to go home, right? Well, love, I’ll take you to where the boats gather. I’m afraid it might be a bit of a wait, but have no fear, I’ll get you home one way or another!” Carrying himself down another path, he suddenly stops, looking back at you for a long moment, before offering you another smile.
”My offer is always open to you, just so you know. I’d never leave someone out of the excitement, it’s just unmoral. Besides, you’re quite a stunning stranger, and I always do enjoy having those around.” Winking at you, abruptly the tom gained a slightly more somber air.
”If you’re ever feeling the need for some excitement, just remember, there is always a place for you here…”
